Going Green to support Dyslexia Awareness Week 2019...and we can announce we are now a Dyslexia Friendly School.

Did you know that more than one in ten of us are dyslexic?

This week we have pledged to support Dyslexia Awareness Week. We have done this through assemblies, wearing green on Tuesday and talking about dyslexia throughout the school.

Also, rather ironically yesterday we had a representative of the British Dyslexia Association in for an assessment day to observe teaching and learning in the school and talk to students and staff about dyslexia and our school approach. All the hard work that Sue, Adele and the rest of the team at Wilds have invested in educating staff, making small adjustments to the teaching and support that we give, have resulted in Wilds Lodge being awarded the Dyslexia Friendly school award! We have had a lovely letter from Rachael.

Hi Sue

Just a very quick note to say thank you for such a lovely day on Tuesday – I thoroughly enjoyed visiting your inspirational school, and for seeing the wonderful dyslexia friendly practice in place.  Thank you to all your colleagues for taking the time to talk to me, and to those colleagues whose classes I observed, and also to Matthew for talking to me.

I’ll send you a report next week, but you have most definitely got the Quality Mark!

All the best,

Rachael McMullen
