Enrichment

Our enrichment program is designed to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and cultivate a lifelong love of learning. Through engaging outdoor adventures that link learners with nature and creative arts that encourage imaginative expression, our wide range of activities complements our academic curriculum. At Wilds Lodge, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only prepared to excel academically but are also equipped with the essential skills and experiences to thrive in their future endeavours.

Pupils gain from various experiences, such as trips and visits. They recall fondly, and appreciate a wide range of, enrichment activities.

Connect Afternoons

On Fridays we start with Tutor Time as usual and learners do two morning lessons.  After this, the timetable changes to our Connect activities - our unique enrichment programme designed to foster creativity and enable learners to socialise with their peers in fun and engaging activities. We have a rewards system in school where learners receive points for attendance, engagement and attitude to learning - these points convert to rewards: gold, silver and bronze. Depending on their level of points, they can then choose an activity to do on the Friday.

Gold examples: Paint-balling, Cinema Trip, Bowling, Trampolining
Silver examples: Rock band, Ceramics
Bronze examples: Magic the Gathering, Football, Dungeons and Dragons

For those learners who need more support, each site has a Refuel room where films are shown and staff are on hand to talk.

Extra Curricular

At Wilds Lodge, we recognise that physical activity is essential for our learners physical and mental well-being. Beyond our PE lessons, we offer various extra-curricular sports that support individuals’ personal development, teamwork skills, and self-confidence.

Our extracurricular sports program caters to all interests and abilities, with options ranging from team sports like football and basketball to individual pursuits like running and trampolining. A large number of our learners participate in these activities, which are usually held at Crossroads site from 4-5pm and we encourage everyone to get involved at their own pace.

Engaging in sports outside of lesson time helps learners develop resilience, improve social skills, and build positive relationships. At Wilds Lodge, this might be ‘shooting some hoops’ for a movement break between lessons or representing the school football team in the SEND Midland league.

If you would like your learner to get involved with any of our after school sport activities or you have any questions, please contact ningram@wildslodgeschool.co.uk
